Page 1I’d heard that Hyprland might take care of some GPU crashing that I was experiencing, and took the plunge. Agents definitely make Linux troubleshooting a world easier! Once I was at it, I decided to take things farther. Ricing had been on my periphery for years, and with the power just a few subscriptions away, I felt like it was time.
Doing some basic ricing on my desktop made me turn my attention to an old laptop. The most recent thing I’d done with it was brick the Debian installation on it, so I decided it was time for a very drastic redesign. Repartitioning away from an old Windows partition that was keeping the Linux boot space unreasonably small, it now sports niri on top of NixOS. I started by crafting a comprehensive plan that we’ve been following, making amendments along the way. After all, no product spec survives contact with implementation.
There’s a slide deck linked above to give a better idea of what we’ve done and what we’re working on. The deck itself is my first foray with Impeccable, meaning the slide deck itself is also demonstrating the same spirit of exploration and experimentation that the rest of the project is.
(This exhibit is held elsewhere on this site: open the deck.)
